Creating a little light in the world

Ever since I was very small, I've dreamt about fire..
Fire Chasing me.
I'd run, I'd hide..Fire would find me.
Firestar, was on a Spiderman cartoon tv show
that I would watch with my little brother...
She could control fire, and fly.
I'd watch them all, hoping she would make a cameo..
I went through a phase around 12 years old,
where I would only wear red and black.
I studied elemental magic as a teen and
played with fire..a lot.
I remember once, putting rubbing alcohol
inside my terra-cotta cauldren
(it was really a potpourri burner) and
throwing a match into it.....Blue Fire!
Now I create aromatherapeutic candles.
Not as dramatic as my fantasy of creating fire like Firestar..
But close enough.
I loved creating them for my Family and Friends as gifts ("candles again?"),
custom jobs for spas, and of course, the Goddess Shoppe had me really cooking.

A few weeks ago, I received an order
from  Stars above in Sayville
that was really creative and fun.
Stacy, the owner, loved my work, and had very specific feelings she wanted to evoke with the titles she created.
My job was invoke them with my aromatherapy magic...and make the candles.

Because it was an all-at-once order,
I set a pace early in the morning
 (4-6:30am) to work uninterrupted.

What a delight to get up and do this thing.

How absolutely intoxicating, the moment when each formula is successfully infused  into the wax.

I am the alchemist..in a robe, stirring in reiki blessings, whispering chants and prayers over each hot batch of molten wax.

Stacey came up with the great titles, and I let them inspire me..

I started with the scent "Bless this Space", it seemed fitting, to start with that.
The scent of the essential oils added filled up my home and created that sacred space everwhere.

Moving on to the next title,"Prayer of Gratitude" made sense..
I was so grateful to be on this project, doing what I love,
making time for myself, Connecting with my library of essential oils,
seeing which ones made me feel more grateful and prayerful,
and getting paid to play this way.

Next on the burner was "Peace of Mind" where the rhythm of my work took on even more of a meditative vibe..I love the early hours, undisturbed by anyone, knowing that this project was sustaining me in so many ways..

"Love is in the Air" was the next adventure, It was long overdue, as I was focusing on creating and maybe neglecting my sweet man a little bit..So putting more love in the air with rose essential oil was a deep pleasure...for both of us.

I had "A Walk in the Woods" to create next, and that silly song
from the  'Adventure Time' cartoon kept playing in my head:

"come along with me..
with the butterflies and bees..
we can wander thru the forest,
and do so as we please...
living merrily"

I knew this project was almost over..
I was through the woods after this..but I loved the dicipline of getting up to do this beautiful work and was a little wistful at the project's end..

Smooth sailing into the last creation, "Breathe and Relax"...
which I did not make in the wee hours of the morning..
it was when my full house of three boys and a husband was in full swing.
My guy came over to the stove and stirred the wax for a few minutes
as I was trimming wicks at the kitchen table..
He stood awhile there, and said, "I can see how this is really relaxing for you."
Yeah!
